Drought
is a very dry condition caused by a lack of rainfall.
How
does this cause Non-Point Source Pollution? During
drought, dissolved chemicals such as salts, sulfates, and chlorides
become concentrated and can be toxic to plants and animals or cause
dehydration of plants and animals.
For instance, drinking water intakes may be closed during a
drought if salinity and chlorides increases too much because they can
cause health problems for people and production problems for industry. |
