CWC Gulf Lagniappe Workshop
October 29, 2013
On October 26, LUMCON and CWC/GOMRI hosted a Gulf Lagniappe public adult education workshop to help members of the public foster a better understanding of Louisiana’s marine and coastal environments and the effects of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The workshop was a one day science exploration and included lunch, a tour, a lab activity and a trip on a research vessel. In addition, the workshop featured presentations by two LUMCON scientists: Dr. Chuck Wall, who discussed his research into coastal ecosystems, and Dr. Tara Duffy, who presented information about fisheries health and better fishing practices.
“It was a great way to spend a Saturday!” raved one participant. “I’m surprised how much I learned” said another.
The next CWC Gulf Lagniappe workshop is scheduled for Saturday, November 23. For more information and to register for the next workshop, visit http://cwc.lumcon.edu.
